Adam not only did nothing, but was silent, to this day we don’t why.

Satan, known as the “Serpent,” was not done manipulating Eve. She has not yet sinned, and that must change, so he presses on.

Satan  launched forward with  damning words, “You will surely not die.”

It was a bold face lie.

He knew the truth, because it happened to him. To rebel against God meant death, and Satan was experiencing the worst kind of death, a living death, and it ruined him, so he worked to ruin others.

The fullness of the lie was released, Satan said,“You will surely not die. For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”

So there it is, the accusation is complete. no one needs to listen to God, so Satan thinks, because God holds out on them, he is weak and unnecessary, the tools of deity are available to all, if only people only knew. The power of God, Satan implies, his secret sauce, comes not from divine character or purity in love, but from knowledge related to good and evil. Know that, and you too will be like God.

“By the way Eve,” implies the Serpent, God said, “I Lucifer would die if I gained this knowledge, but it was not true, for here I am.”

Eve looked again at the tree, but the visual was not like before, now there was an appeal, a strong desire, an unholy want.

“So when the woman saw that it was a delight to make one wise, she took of its fruit, and ate…”

Angels and demons seem to share a common trait with humans, they don’t like to be alone, they want relationship either with their own kind or with humans. Satan wanted humanity to come his way, and if he had launched a frontal assault against Adam, that might not have happened.

Now its Adam’s turn at Satanic temptation, and he will not fare any better than Eve.
